About the Railroad
The Conway Scenic Railroad is a historic and scenic railway located in the Mount Washington Valley of New Hampshire. The railroad operates two vintage trains that travel along a picturesque route through the White Mountains, offering passengers the opportunity to experience the beauty of the region from the comfort of a vintage railcar.
The railroad’s main line, which runs from North Conway to Crawford Notch, follows the path of the old Maine Central Railroad and offers stunning views of the White Mountains, including Mount Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast. History
The Conway Scenic Railroad was created by Dwight Smith, that was an employee of the Boston and Maine Railroad in the late 1960s. After years of negotiations, Smith was able to encourage his employer to offer a section of the Conway Branch, which was intended to be abandoned, to him and two regional business owners in 1974, and the Conway Scenic Railroad began that year. In 1999 the original proprietors were gotten by couple Russ as well as Dot Seybold, and also on January 30, 2018, the railroad was marketed once again to Profile Mountain Holdings Corp
