I’m a railfan who has been experiencing various aspects of railroading for most of my life.
I’ve ridden many Amtrak, steam excursions, tourist railroads, and been to a lot of museums.
I’ve chased trains, I’ve taken pictures, I’ve taken videos, [I’ve even painted some paintings of trains].
I love railroads, railroading, and railfanning.

What is a Railfan?
A railfan is a person who loves various aspects of railroads and railroading. Sometimes they’re referred to as rail buffs, railway enthusiasts, and such.
This could involve activities like, but not limited to:
Riding trains
Taking pictures of trains.
Chasing trains
Collecting items and relics related to railroads
Interest may include studying company history, keeping track of schedules, working or volunteering on various railroad activities, restoration or preservation of equipment, promoting railroads and railroading, just to name a few
