Brief history
The line was originally built by the Valley Railway in or about 1880. The line was in the most recent times owned by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, which became part of the Chessie System. The line is owned by the National Park Service within Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Part of the line is operated by the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway.
Originally known as the Cuyahoga Valley Line, the scenic railroad now operates as Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR).

The closest Amtrak station to the Independence station is Cleveland. From there it’s a 17 minute drive
The alternative would be the Amtrak station in Alliance OH. It’s about a 42 minute drive to the Akron station
